Directorship

CMR was founded in 2001 by Steve Cameron, experienced in managing teams of technical experts in international and multicultural business environments within the shipping, ports, terminals, logistics, and supply chain markets.

Stephen trained at sea and ashore for 10 years with cargo division of Cunard Cargo Shipping.
He was then part of the management that for 20 years developed and successfully ran O.T. Africa Line, a specialist West Africa focused liner shipping, logistics and terminal operations company, where he was Operations Director and board member responsible for business development. He also spent 4 years at rti Forensics, where he developed the maritime risk, safety and security consultancy, together with post incident investigation services and dispute resolution services.

With these values in mind with have established an independent Governance Board consisting of the following initial appointments

Captain Andrew Mitchell, a safety and ISM expert, was Master Mariner with Shell Tankers and FPSOs. Then as a senior manager with LR, he held corporate responsibility for marine management system certification, chaired the IACS working groups on the ISM and ISPS Codes, and represented IACS at the IMO and ILO, and is a past member of the Advisory Board to CHIRP. He has significant experience as an International Expert Witness on high profile cases.

David Plumer, a business development expert, works as a non-executive director (NED) and consultant. A current role is as a NED for an expanding bulk logistics and terminals business with a strong African focus. He was previously CEO for Pole Star Space Applications, providing tracking, monitoring and intelligence data for the maritime industry. Prior to this he was involved in Acquisition Integration at DHL.

Roger Flaxman, an expert in Insurance claims advocacy set up Flaxman Partners in 2000, now recognised as the UK’s leading independent Claims Advocacy Service, and highly regarded throughout the industry. His business achieves in resolving complex claims and insurance disputes; more often than not avoiding the unnecessary complication of the cost and time of litigation. In February 2014 Flaxmans was officially appointed by The British Insurance Brokers’ Association as its preferred partner in offering its members a unique specialist Claims Advocacy Service.
